Initially assumed by Denton to be merely a hacker, Tong reveals deeper connections to the global power struggle. He identifies the Gray Death virus as having been created by VersaLife, the company owned by Bob Page and formerly an asset of the Illuminati. Tong's knowledge allows him to guide Denton toward the truth about the pandemic and the factions manipulating it.

In Their Own Story

After escaping a Majestic 12 prison with help from Daedalus, JC Denton travels to Hong Kong specifically to find Tracer Tong. The mission requires resolving an ongoing war between the Triads in exchange for Tong's assistance. Once the conflict is settled, Tong agrees to remove the kill switch that Joseph Manderley and Walton Simons had activated in Denton's system. This revelation propels Denton to destroy the universal constructor creating the virus and steal the Ambrosia plans. Following these events, Tong directs Denton to the Illuminati's remaining base in Paris to find Morgan Everett.
